Theme Weddings aren’t for everyone, but if you have the urge to do something really different, Theme Weddings can be a lot of fun.
To give you some idea of how they can work, let’s consider: The 19th Hole (Club House Wedding), A “Buffalo Gal Wedding” (at the NorthWood Buffalo Ranch), a Celtic Highlander Wedding (with a Bagpiper), a Masquerade Wedding (New Year’s or Halloween, Madi Gras (Jean Baptiste day), a Native American Pow-Wow (or Mtn Man Rendevous), a Camelot Wedding with a mini Renaissance Fair (King Arthur and Queen Genevieve).
Pick out a favorite holiday, an Olympic sport, a favorite classic movie (i.e. Casa Blanca – American Grafitti – Grease - Star Wars) , a current or historical event, a nationality in your background (i.e. Celtic, African, Asian, Native American) or a family tradition, sport or hobby. Consider dates and numbers that may give your wedding a ‘one of a kind’ feeling like: 10/10/2010, 11/11/2011 or 12/12/2012 (those are the only 3 dates this century that are left!
Examples of holidays would be Christmas, New Year’s, Super bowl Sunday, Winter Carnival, Valentine’s, St. Patrick’s, Easter, May Day (Queen of the May), Cinco De Mayo (Mexican theme), Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Halloween, an equinox or solstice day, Thanksgiving, even your own birthday! You can combine 2 Themes too i.e. 4th-of-July & a Rodeo, or New Year's & Madi-Gras.
You can also consider a Destination Honeymoon Wedding Vacation by making a fishing trip, rafting, hiking, camping, sailing etc. wedding where your guests go with you. Me too!
Your Wedding Invitations, Dress Code, Colors, Decorations, Flowers & Cake and Reception festivities can all reflect your Theme. An example would be May Kentucky Derby: All the ladies wear huge old fashioned hats decorated with flowers, Men wear Derby hats, Lots of Roses, Your Wedding program can look like a ‘Racing Form’, Invitations can look like a First Place Betting Ticket, Blue Ribbons, Horses, Jockeys, Mint Juleps and you could arrive on horseback or in a fancy buggy to Tie Your Knot at the Hitchin' Post. It’s just a time to let your imagination and creativity have a great time too.
I’m available to help stir up some ideas for you too. We won't let the Theme Wedding distract from the serious, tender, romantic and spiritual parts of your ceremony, we will seque into those so you won’t be missing any of the parts of your Dream Wedding, you really can have it all!
